FEES and FAQ’s

Getting the right help at the right time can make all the difference in the trajectory of your life. Investing in what matters most — in yourself, your children, and in your relationships — determines your outcomes, in the present and for years to come.

What is your fee?

I offer affordable and accessible therapy and coaching for individuals, couples, and families. I am an in-network provider for Blue Cross Blue Shield, and for your convenience, I verify benefits and submit claims on your behalf. I am considered an out-of-network provider for many other insurance plans and will work with you to maximize your out-of-network coverage reimbursement. I highly recommend you ask the following questions of your provider:

  • Does my plan include mental health benefits and do I need preauthorization to access those benefits?
  • What is the deductible under my plan and has part or all of it been satisfied?
  • What percentage of the cost of treatment will be my responsibility once my deductible has been met?
  • Is there a limit to the number of sessions my plan will cover?

What can I expect in the first session?

During your initial appointment (called an intake session), I will meet with you to gather personal and family history with the objective of getting to know you and the particular struggles or challenges you are experiencing. We will discuss the nature of counseling, confidentiality, review your completed paperwork, and gain an understanding of the goals you want to achieve through the process of counseling. Gathering information provides the opportunity for us to work collaboratively to develop a realistic and workable treatment plan for subsequent sessions with the ultimate objective of you experiencing relief from depression, improving relationships, gaining skills to reduce and manage anxiety or stress, or other goals you have set for yourself.

What are your policies on confidentiality? Will our discussions be shared?

Our discussions will remain confidential, subject to certain legal requirements to disclose in the case of risk of harm to yourself, harm to others or child or elder abuse.

How do I make an appointment?

Call (770) 756-2969 or get in touch via email, joanne@compassbuford.com

What if I need to cancel my session?

Therapy is most beneficial with regularly scheduled sessions. Your appointment has been reserved specifically for you. However, if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify me at least 48 hours in advance to provide the opportunity for another client to utilize that time. Cancellations made without providing at least 48 hours notice (with the exception of an emergency or personal/family crisis) will result in a charge of your individual session rate.

What forms of payment do you accept?

Accepted forms of payment are all major credit cards, Health Savings Account (HSA) cards, and Flexible Spending Account (FSA) cards, cash, personal check (made payable to Compass Family Counseling). Payment is expected at the time services are rendered, is processed via Square, and is generally collected at the end of each session. There is a $25 charge for all returned checks. A superbill is provided upon request to utilize out-of-network benefits. It is recommended that you contact your insurance company for information pertaining to reimbursement rates. If you need additional assistance, or have questions, please feel free to contact me directly at (770) 756-2969.
